The NWS has pushed back the initial development of storms today until 2:00 p.m. over Western Kentucky (east of us). They also added that they do not feel that there will be much development over Missouri and Illinois at this time. We'll keep you posted if this changes. We are still planning for a normal student dismissal at this time. The latest update from the NWS is copied below.

Subject: Forecast update
Good morning,
Here is an update based on the latest trends this morning:
- Initial development is expected to be a bit later, possibly as late as 2 PM.
- Development is most likely over west Kentucky, and there may not be much development at all over Missouri and Illinois. These are early trends and could change.
- The severe risk areas have not changed this morning, but adjustments could be made later today.
- The specific severe threats are also unchanged. We still have a threat of strong tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds.
- The threat could linger a bit longer into the evening, possibly 9 PM in the far east (Kentucky Pennyrile region).
- Confidence in the details is still pretty low, so adjustments to the forecast are still possible.
We will keep you posted on the latest trends.

Reminder: 11:30am Student Dismissal on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 (Last Day of School for Students)

Parents/Guardians:
Update - Due to the approaching storm, we are moving the graduation start time back to 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00. Please be mindful of the weather before lining up at the door. We will also stream the ceremony live for those that do not wish to venture out this evening. There will be a shelter area inside the high school for those that are already on site. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Parents and Guardians,
Following discussions with the graduates earlier today, it has been determined that rescheduling the graduation ceremony to tomorrow afternoon or evening is not feasible, as several graduates would be unable to attend. Therefore, we have decided to begin the ceremony at 6:00 p.m. this evening (doors will open at 5:00) to allow additional flexibility in case weather conditions necessitate delays. As the system approaches, we may need to delay the start time until it passes. If this happens, we will use the District Remind Text Service, Email and Social Media to inform parents.
We will keep everyone informed of any further adjustments to the schedule as safety is still our top priority.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We will be live streaming the MJHS and MCHS Graduation ceremonies on our district Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/massacunit1).
